THE driver of an Opel Aguila escaped with her life yesterday after the vehicle she was driving towards Cala Figuera suddenly hit the central reservation and flipped over.

The accident happened at midday just as the driver was pulling off the motor way at the Cala Figuera exit.
Apparently, as the driver turned off the main road, the vehicle made a strange movement and collided with the central reservation. It apparently rolled a number of times until coming to rest on its roof and pointing in the direction of Santa Ponsa.

A number of drivers stopped immediately and rushed to the driver's help.
According to emergency sources, the driver appeared to have escaped with just minor injuries.
However, she did suffer a panic attack and was taken to hospital in Palma for a complete medical check up.
The accident and the operation to remove the damaged vehicle caused long tail backs as the lunch time rush hour began.
