LESS than four weeks after British Airways announced it is going to be launching new leisure services to Palma and Ibiza from London City airport this year, it has been forced to increase its flight schedule due to massive interest.

Yesterday, BA announced plans to increase the frequency of its new summer flights to Palma and Ibiza from London City due to higher than expected demand.

The new routes were unveiled in the middle of last month and yesterday BA said they will offer five flights to Palma and four services to Ibiza every week in July and August.

The Balearic flights, which take off in May, are BA's first leisure-only services from London City.

A BA spokesman said: “We are delighted with the response from passengers and our forward bookings demonstrate their commitment to these new leisure routes. “It was always our intention to increase the frequency if the demand was there, now less than a month after announcing the new routes we can fulfil that promise.”
