One killed and four hurt in car crash

ONE person was killed and four others injured, three critically, in a traffic accident in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The tragic crash happened along the Soller road near the Can Penaso restaurant at 5.20am.

According to accident investigators it appears that the Volkswagen Polo in which the three males and two females were traveling suddenly skidded off the road and careered into a dry stone wall. The vehicle flipped over as a result of the impact and caught fire. The emergency services were at the scene as quickly as possible but nothing could have been done to save the life of one of the occupants who suffered severe burns. Two young women were rushed to hospital in critical condition as were two other male occupants who suffered only minor injuries, including the driver. A full investigation has been opened.
