A security guard at a large hypermarket in Palma has been arrested by the National Police and accused of robbing the store for over a period of five years.
The suspect is then alleged to have given the goods to his wife, two sons and the girlfriend of one of them for selling in second hand shops and on the black market. All have been arrested in an ongoing police operation.
Security forces have seized from the detainees computer products, video consoles, telephones, clothes and games to the value of 30'000 euros. Police have calculated that the thieves may have made 16'000 euros profit through their enterprise.
