Palma.—The National Weather Agency (AEMET) said that drivers should pay special attention to icy patches and particularly strong gusts of wind in certain parts of the Balearics.

Snowfall, said AEMET is forecast in Cantabria and the Balearics and may descend from 300 metres to sea level.
Skies will be generally overcast with possible layers of thick cloud and there may even be sporadic storms in the Balearics.
AEMET recommended that people think foremost in protecting their own safety during the wintry weather and that of others. The Agency advised drivers to find out about road conditions before setting out and that if it were necessary to travel, to keep to main routes.

Take extra clothing in the vehicle, says AMET, and a fully charged mobile phone or means of recharging it. If the car were to break down or become trapped by weather conditions, the advice is to stay inside the vehicle with the heat on. In the case of strong wind, the public is advised to stay away from trees, high walls and other structures which may be at risk of falling.
