Palma.—Majorca's excellent and varied food appears to have got the taste buds of the British media going.
Within the space of the next month, at least three leading publications are going to be running special supplements on Palma with the capital's food and restaurants being the focus of attention.

To begin with, the Independent on Sunday is running a special travel supplement this weekend in which it will recommend leading British chef Marc Fosh's Simply Fosh as ‘The coolest restaurant in Palma'.

This will be followed by a feature in the Daily Mail which is going to focus on what the city's restaurants have to offer and is going to heavily feature Marc Fosh and his three restaurants.

Then, the Sainsbury's Food magazine is going to publishing a feature on a “cook's tour” of Palma's markets etc. and Marc Fosh is going to be their guide. “It's great this sudden surge of interest in Palma as a gastronomic destination and obviously, we're pleased to have been named the coolest restaurant in the city,” Marc said yesterday.

It is also a blessing in disguise for the local Ministry for Tourism and the Spanish Tourist Board, Turespaña, who both claim to have no money for promoting the Balearics this year.

Gastronomy is one of the attractions the local authorities have been keen to push for years and it appears that if has finally caught the eye of the British media and Palma's food and restaurants is going to be featuring heavily on the media menu over the coming months.
