Palma.This year, four Majorcan beaches have made the top ten in the annual Travellers' Choice European Beach Awards.
The Port of Alcudia's beach was the highest ranking Majorcan beach coming in in third place.
Palmanova was voted as the seventh best followed by Magalluf in eighth and Cala d'Or in tenth position.
What is more, in the top ten Spanish beaches, the Port of Alcudia came out top, beating Benidorm into second place.
But in the European rankings, the big surprise was Bournemouth which beat Benidorm!
Bournemouth was voted fourth in a best beaches of Europe poll.
The Dorset beach came fourth in the Trip Advisor poll behind Turkey's Oludeniz and Icmeler and Majorca .
It also moved up from third to first in a best beach of Britain poll, closely followed by Jersey's St Brelade and Woolacombe in Devon.
Trip Advisor's Emma Shaw said of the news: Not only has it been named the UK's best beach destination, up from third place last year, it's also ranked ahead of almost every Mediterranean beach destination.
The rankings are collated by TripAdvisor which carries out an annual survey of all its users, asking them to rate their best, or worst beaches.
