Guardia Civil yesterday seized 400 marijuana plants, the equivalent of 40 kilos, from a property in Felanitx.
It was the biggest marijuana haul of the year to date and came just 24 hours after a marijuana factory was closed down on the outskirts of Palma.
According to the Guardia Civil, two people in their early 20s have been arrested.
The marijuana plantation was discovered by one of the Guardia Civil agricultural patrols.
Since last year, the security forces have stepped up their patrols in rural areas of Majorca in response to a wave of robberies from farms and the Guardia Civil began noticing a great deal of traffic movement along a country road on the outskirts of Felanitx.

An investigation was opened and the Guardia Civil eventually managed to confirm that the vehicles did not belong to residents in the area.
As the investigation continued, the Guardia Civil eventually located a property where a marijuana growing factory had been set up using all kinds of special equipment such as high voltage lights and all kinds of tools and equipment used for growing and preparing marijuana for distribution and sale.

The Guardia Civil claim that some 30'000 euros had been invested in force growing the marijuana so that the growers could enjoy the rewards of three harvests a year.
