Late on Wednesday night, the Local Police, Port Police and the Guardia Civil were involved in the rescue of a Briton who, according to eye witnesses and the police, was so drunk he staggered off the edge of the Paseo Maritimo in Palma and fell into the sea.

The emergency services were alerted and an ambulance dispatched where he was treated at the scene.
The police eventually located the 35-year-old tourist's friend but it was apparently impossible to converse with the victim because, according to the police, he was so drunk he could hardly speak coherently. He suffered mild hypothermia and is now recovering.
