l Local Police patrols along the Paseo Maritimo in Palma are now active at night at the weekends on a regular basis.
It's not just roadside breath tests the Local Police are carrying out to catch those who are drinking and driving but they are also going into night clubs, discothèques and bars to check on whether illegal drugs are circulating.

In the early hours of yesterday morning, police were stopping large numbers of vehicles at random, asking for documentation and for drivers to undergo separate tests for drug and alcohol abuse. From 2am to 5am alone, four people tested positive, one of them riding a motorcycle. The rider was caught trying to park before he reached the patrol.
