Madrid/Palma.—Internet travel review website Qype revealed yesterday that the Soller train holds seventh place in the list of the country's most popular monuments.

The train reportedly ranks along with other giants of Spain's historic landmarks such as the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostella, the Alhambra Palace in Granada, the Mosque in Cordoba and the Cathedral in Burgos. Others completing Qype's user “Top Ten” include the Güell park in Barcelona, the Giralda tower in Seville, the Oceanography centre in Valencia and the Dali Museum in Figueras.

The order of ranking has been pinpointed by rating the average number of comments on each of the monuments and gauging the extent to which website users value them on a scale of 0 to 5. The opinion of regular website users is held more to account than occasional visitors.

Qype offers 900 search categories on which opinions of around 166'000 sites of interest in 12 countries are invited from users. In 2011, the website began an aggressive marketing exercise to get its presence established in Europe. In just a year, Qype users have multiplied by five and opinions recorded on key sites have grown by 300%.
