Palma.—A vehicle which had been robbed from a private garage in Marratxi was found in the early hours of yesterday morning after it had crashed into a roadside wall in the Palma suburb of La Vileta, a Local Police patrol reported.

There was no one inside the grey Ford Fiesta when it was discovered in Calle Josep Estela at 2am by a woman on her way home. She notified the police but when officers first investigated the scene, there were no signs of forced entry in the vehicle and the keys were still in the ignition.

Investigators verified that the legal owners of the vehicle were an elderly couple living in Marratxi.

When the police contacted the owners, the first line of questioning was to ask if they knew where the car was and if it were possible that a friend or relative might have picked it up from their property.

One of the owners said that as far as he knew the car was in the garage, explaining that when he parked it at his property, he would normally leave the keys in the ignition.

The owner checked the garage but confirmed that the vehicle was not there.
