Palma.—A 36-year-old house breaker picked the wrong apartment to break into in the early hours of yesterday morning.
At around 3.15am, a 31-year-old male inhabitant of the apartment in Calle Henri Dunant near the Bull Ring, was sitting in the lounge watching television.

A few minutes later, he got up and headed into the kitchen for a glass of water where he noticed a man trying to hide behind the fridge.
Fight
Within a split second, the intruder lunged at the 31-year-old and a fight broke out between the two men.
The noise quickly woke the 31-year-old's parents who immediately called the police. However, while they waited for one of the Palma Local Police rapid response units to arrive, the father joined in the fight and, with the aid of his son, managed to reduce the intruder to the floor and hold him there until the police reached the scene.

The 36-year-old robber is a resident in Palma and just hours before had appeared in front of a remand hearing to face charges for similar offences. He had been released only to commit another crime just moments later.

Police checked the house with the owners and discovered that a digital camera and a lap top were missing.
Mouse in his pocket
However, the mouse for the lap top was found in the thief's pocket and the camera and lap top in a bag in the garden outside the apartment block.
Yesterday, he remained in police custody waiting to again appear before a remand hearing and police sources said it is highly unlikely the suspect will be allowed to walk free this time around.

Police also praised the bravery of the father and son for tackling the thief.
