The various Balearic hotel federations, associations of travel agents and the Balearic Commercial federation (Afedeco) met yesterday to give their backing to increasing the pressure on central government to speed up passing the new Tourism Law.

Sources were forced to admit that the new law will probably not be approved and passed through parliament until during the summer season but they hope that the law does come into force in time for the winter season so the industry can begin planning ahead and start work on breathing some life into winter tourism in the Balearics.

The industry fears that every day that is wasted in Madrid is preventing the industry from becoming more competitive.
