Palma.This coming Saturday April 28th is The Pirates Charity Premiere in aid of Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. In the last 8 years they have raised over 600'000 for the Hospital which has funded many different projects. Last year island resident Charley Ray Myers began treatment at Great Ormond Street.
He will be returning from a visit to the Hospital on Saturday and will be attending the show with his Mum, Debbie, sister, Elle and Gran, Sue.
When Charley was born on 4th September 2008, he weighed just 1.280 kilos (less than 3 lbs), and he spent his first 7 months of life in intensive care, 6 of them on a ventilator. Charley has been diagnosed as having CHARGE syndrome, which is a fairly rare genetic condition and occurs in only 1 out of 9 -10 000 births worldwide. In most cases, there is no family history of CHARGE or similar conditions it literally arrives out of the blue.

Charley is just a little over 3 years old now. He's small for his age because of his hormonal issues, he has only partial vision, and he has a cochlear implant in his right ear.
A large number of people in Majorca have been fundraising on behalf of the family, and direct donations have been received from several organisations, including My Destination, Monarch, Pinmar, Webbs, Viva Sports, Universal Nautic, Prosperity Real Estate and Insurance Express.
Pirates CEO Catherine Sasson on hearing that funds were needed to help with Charley's day to day care, decided that a donation from this years Main auction on the night will be given to Support Charley. The amazing auction prizes are listed below.
