“New approach” to minimise Cala Blava road congestion

The Roads department of the Council of Majorca has redesigned the road lanes at the s'Arenal roundabout in the direction of Cala Blava to minimise excess congestion particularly at peak hours of the day. Apart from now permitting direct access to Arenal, the road revision means that there are two entrance lanes for traffic about 150 metres prior to reaching the roundabout. The Council of Majorca claimed yesterday that the “double entry” system will greatly reduce traffic build up. A spokesman said that this stretch of the Ma-6014 carries nearly 19'000 vehicles a day; 70 of every 100 of them heading for Llucmajor's residential areas.
