Felanitx.—The fines of 5'000 euros each have been imposed on the two young men by the Central Government delegation in the Balearics. The culprits, politically and socially active in Felanitx and more widely on Majorca, were found guilty of pushing and abusing the President of the Council of Majorca, Maria Salom, and police officers, at an event at last year's Sant Agustí fiestas in Felanitx.

The news was released by the Felanitx Festival Committee (CDFPF) just one month before this year's Sant Agustí fiestas are due to take place and has generated a mixed bag of reactions on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The Committee has demanded the resignation of Felanitx Mayor Biel Tauler who claimed that the decision by the Central Government delegation was based on police reports and witness statements.

However, the opposition “Bloc” coalition in Felanitx has slammed the fines as being out of all perspective, describing the sentence as a “witch hunt.”
