Palma Local Police will waver fines to cyclists caught breaking the new cycling laws providing they agree to attend a two hour traffic education course.

The new scheme was launched by the city council this week and in theory the courses have unlimited capacity.
However, cyclists can only go on one course every three years and access is limited to those who have committed one infringement of the law a year.
Since the new laws came into force at the beginning of the summer, the most common infringements have been failing to use cycle lanes, not giving way at pedestrian crossings, cycling in pedestrianized areas and children under the age of eight failing to wear helmets.

The fines vary from 60 to 120 euros.
