The high number of abandoned cars appearing on the streets of Sa Pobla has prompted the ruling Partido Popular (PP) council to change existing bylaws whereby those guilty will be fined between 300 and 400 euros.

Previously it had been the local council which had paid for the removal of abandoned cars from public streets, but with the introduction of the new bylaw, “it will be the car owners themselves who will have to pay the costs,” warned Mayor Biel Serra yesterday. The Mayor said that in recent years, council workers had noticed above all an increase in the number of abandoned cars from other municipalities being dumped in Sa Pobla.
