Eight vehicles involved in double accident on Palma ring road

The second accident took place as a result of the driver becoming disorientated when she witnessed the first. The events took place at around 10pm just as the Madrid/Barcelona football final was coming to a close, so there was an unusual amount of traffic on the roads for a Sunday night.

A vehicle which was heading along the ring road in the direction of the airport turned over close to the Son Hugo swimming pool. Three cars following behind also collided as a result after one of them swerved to avoid the overturned car. An elderly couple were injured and taken to Son Espases hospital. Meanwhile, in the opposite direction heading for Andratx a driver saw the first accident, was distracted and a further three cars collided with the first. One driver was slightly injured.
