THE Sampedro Siquir family were celebrating yesterday because not only is there a new addition to the family but also he is the first baby to be born in the Balearics in 2011. Little Mateu was born an hour into the new year.

Two hours later little Ainoa Planells Exposito was born in Ibiza. Marc Amengual, who was born at the National Health Hospital in Inca, was the third baby to be born in the New Year. It was certainly a great 2011 gift for their families.
