BRITISH tour operators have not wasted any time this year in launching into a summer holiday price war with major reductions already on offer for the Balearics and other key hot-spots. While the Balearics suffered slightly on the British market this year at the expense of other emerging destinations, in particular Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, the United States and mainland Spain, tour operators hope that this early holiday discount tactic will encourage consumers into booking early. Over recent years, Britons have waited later and later to book their holiday, preferring to lie in wait to pounce on last-minute deals but it appears that this year, those who leave it to the last minute may find themselves disappointed and regretting they did not book early when the offers were available. Prices of package holidays to family destinations like Majorca have already had four percent knocked off.
