Staff reporter RECORDS uncovered by the investigation into the activities of CIA aircraft in Europe over the past two years have revealed that one of the flights which stopped in Palma was on an active mission. The CIA-used Boeing 737 which landed in Palma on January 22 last year was en-route to Macedonia to carry out the rendition of Khalid el-Masri a German national who was then flown, via Bagdhad, to a U.S.-run prison in Afghanistan. El-Masri was later freed when no terror link was found but he claims that he was beaten, not tortured, during his five months in prison of Afghanistan and is suing the former CIA Director George Tenet.
