Palma.—The hoteliers and the local tourist industry is complaining about the poor performance of this Winter's tourist season but perhaps they ought to assume some of the responsibility.

Only a few weeks ago, the Palma Hotel Federation forecast that this Winter will be one of the worst ever with a near record number of urban hotels closing.

Well the monthly Trivago Hotel Price Index was published yesterday and it reveals that hotels in the Balearics are the second most expensive in Spain at an average of 109 euros per night.

Only in the Canaries are they more expensive but they can afford to be because they have a winter of glorious hot sunshine to look forward to.
