Palma de Majorca.—In just a couple of weeks' time, Palma will be celebrating its annual Sant Sebastià festival with an impressive programme of music, concerts, street theatre and fireworks.

Although austerity measures imposed by the City Council have meant that this year there won't be the money to pay for the presence of well-known stars, there will be plenty of music and yesterday, the Council agreed to extend the programme of activities with concerts on Saturday, 21st January adding to those already planned for the 19th and 20th.

Performers on the Saturday will include singing star Amaia Montero, a former vocalist with top Spanish group La Oreja de Van Gogh, who will be singing numbers from her new albumn; Huecco; DJ Carlos Jean and entertainers Casa Rusa.

Also taking part in the event will be Lagarto Amarillo, José de Rico & Henry Mendez; Lorena Ares, Adhoc, Tanga Team, Dani Moreno and Javi Mula.
DJ and producer Carlos Jean who wrote one of the major hits of last year “Lead the way” will be presenting new compositions.
The choice of style for the music at the concert has been designed to appeal to a wide audience with its mix of pop, rumba, ballads, and electronic dance rhythms.

A spokesman at City Hall said yesterday that there was a clear intention on the part of the Council to prolong the celebrations. Organisers said that a third day of entertainment will be able to make use of the infrastructure and equipment already in place for the nights of 19th and 20th. Residents and visitors, he predicted, will be able to enjoy a further night of top class entertainment.
