In total, it handled 22.6 million passengers with the sharpest fall being witnessed in December when passenger traffic fell by 7.3 percent in comparison to December 2012.

Nevertheless, Palma ended last year as Spain's third busiest airport behind Barcelona's El Prat, which handled 35.1 million passengers and Madrid's Barajas which handled 45.1 million.

Ibiza and Minorca airports also posted slight reductions in passenger traffic and aircraft operations.
