PALMA
PALMA was one of six Spanish cities which last night held pro-Wikileaks and Julian Assange marches.
Thousands of people across the country turned out to take part in the simultaneous protests against the “persecution being carried out against the Wikileaks organisation and its founder Julian Assange” according to the web site Freewikileaks which has been created since Assange handed himself over to the police in Britain after an international arrest warrant was issued by the Swedish police. The main aim of yesterday's protest was to denounce the “illegal attempts being made by both Sweden and the United States to have Assange extradited from the United Kingdom on anti-terrorism laws.” Freewikileaks is also demanding that Wikileaks be allowed to return to normal operations.
