LAST year was a particularly busy year for the Balearic Emergency centre.
The service responded to a total of 804 incidents, 185 more than during 2008.
The emergency service is on stand by to respond to all kinds of emergencies and also provide support to the fire services and the police.

RESCUE
For example, emergency service units were involved in fighting 432 fires and the control and containment of accidents involving dangerous products.
The emergency crews were also responsible for 93 searches for missing people, 23 rescue missions and responded to 46 gas leaks.
Over the past week, the service was particularly busy handling the damage caused by the gale force winds.
