Palma de Majorca.—The main sectors of the regional government are introducing new safeguards to stop duplication of work and speed up bureaucracy, José María Rodríguez, the new Partido Popular Central Government Delegate said yesterday.

Representatives from the Central Government delegation in the Balearics, the regional government, the individual Island Councils and local town councils will all be collaborating on the project.

Rodríguez held a meeting yesterday morning with Antonio Gomez, the regional Minister for the President's Office. Although at this stage, their talks were no more than a courtesy meeting, both representatives agreed that the sooner collaboration between the four sectors was launched, the better.

Rodriguez, who is yet to name his sub-delegates on Ibiza and Minorca echoed Gomez yesterday by saying that Balearic citizens are going to benefit significantly from having to deal with a less “top heavy” bureaucratic machine and that they will be able to process requests such as building licence application much more swiftly.
