Balearic troops to be deployed to Afghanistan

A 50-strong unit of soldiers from the Balearic General Command (Comgebal) are going to be deployed to Afghanistan later this year as part of a multinational mission to train the Afghan army.

Spain has nearly 1'000 soldiers on the ground in the war zone and last year, Spain responded to the United States's call for greater cooperation from its NATO allies and agreed to commit a further 500 over the course of this year.
