CALVIA
CALVIA police were last night investigating the death of a 51-year-old woman at her home in Santa Ponsa in Calvia.
According to doctors at the scene she had suffered severe wounds to the head. Her husband contacted the emergency services and an ambulance and a police squad car were dispatched to the family home in Santa Ponsa.

Despite the efforts of paramedics the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to the Forensic Institute in Palma where an autopsy will be carried out to establish the exact causes of her death. Her husband was being questioned by police last night in connection with the incident. His young daughter was being cared for by social services.

Last night a police spokesperson declined to give further details saying that their investigations were still ongoing.
The couple and their daughter had moved to Santa Ponsa some five years ago and are believed to have run a successful business in the area.
