PALMA
THE Balearic emergency services were able to breathe a sigh of relief yesterday as the gale force wind alert was finally eased to level one and only applied to the Tramuntana mountain range.

However, the massive clean up and repair operation, which began on Sunday, gathered momentum yesterday with the Balearic government announcing that it has set up a crisis management committee which will coordinate repairs to the areas worst affected with the respective local councils.

Andratx, Costitx and Porto Colom, were three of the hardest hit here in Majorca while Ibiza and Minorca also suffered severe damage.
