THE Guardia Civil were yesterday continuing the hunt for two masked armed men who assaulted a service station on Thursday night in Felanitx and stole 4'000 euros.

According to Guardia Civil sources, the robbery was carried out at 10pm on Thursday night when the petrol station attendant was alone in the service station along the Felanitx to Portocolom road near the turn off for Porto Cristo.

The two men both wore ski masks and stormed into the petrol station brandishing pistols.

They manhandled the service station attendant and forced him to open the till which was holding a little over 4'000 euros in cash. The two armed men apparently grabbed the money and then fled, unfortunately the shocked and slightly injured attendant was not able to see in which direction the duo escaped.

The Guardia Civil do not know whether they fled the scene by car on motorbike and spent yesterday questioning the victim about his ordeal in a bid to try and come up with a lead. Apparently, this is not the first time the petrol station has been targeted as at going to press last night, no arrests had been made.
