THE ninth Palma Cinema and Video Festival will show the principal works of Balearic film makers and cinema schools in Palma from today to Sunday at the Municipal Theatre in the Paseo Mallorca. This was announced yesterday by the director of the Festival, Catalina Cruellas, who said that the main aim of the event was to “open doors to the cinema schools”. The festival will start today at 9.30pm with a programme dedicated to Balearic film makers. Tomorrow will be dedicated to the cinema schools: Mallorca Film Academy; Centre d'Estudis Fotografics and Escola de Disseny i Informatica; which will present work by their students. The two final days will be centred around the winners of festivals and cinema and video competitions in the Balearics, and a celebration of the work of the composer Joan Bibiloni, who has composed music for many films.
