MEMBERS of the Palma Local Police and the National Police Rapid Reaction force mounted a daring rescue on Tuesday night to detain a woman who had barricaded herself on a second-floor balcony and was hurling objects down on the street below.

The alarm, was raised at 9pm after the woman began throwing items, including a plasma TV, off her balcony in calle Alexander Rossello. She had also barricaded the door to the apartment and police had to smash it down and quickly detain her amidst fears the woman was planning to jump to her death. She was eventually admitted to hospital.
