THE spokesman for the Balearic Government, Joan Flaquer, said yesterday that it has gone “from worry to deepest disgust” after the national Ministry of Public Works announced its intention to increase the price of inter-island flight tickets from 78 to 82 euros. Flaquer underlined the disappointment, when the meeting of the committee, set up study the possibility of declaring inter-island flights a public service, backed the Ministry's plan to raise prices on the air routes between the islands without listening to the regional Government's claims. These include respecting frequencies and reducing prices. Despite this increases were announced of two euros because of the increase in the Retail Price Index and another rise of two euros because of the price of fuel.
The spokesman described this at “absolutely intolerable”.
