PALMA
THE reopening of the metro in Palma has been delayed until at least May.
Announcing this latest setback, the Balearic Minister for Transport, Gabriel Vicens, said the reason for the delay was defects found during work on the station in the Son Castello industrial estate.

The work is also being hampered by the presence of telephone cables and other cables belonging to Telefónica and Gesa.
Vicens did not give a precise date for when the metro would reopen but said that it would not be until at least May. He also declined to give an estimate of the cost of repairing the metro until a technical audit had been completed. He did, however, say the costs were “every day rising owing to the rush with which the PP inaugurated the metro before the election”.

Deputy Sandra Morell of the PP, in turn, criticised the Government for hiding information about the metro works from her party.
