PALMA
TODAY is Valentine's Day and according to travel web site Trivago, the most romantic hotel to spend the weekend in Spain is the La Residencia in Deya.
The award-winning Orient Express hotel was singled out for its “splendid views over the mountains and the sea” as well as its “traditional Majorcan interiors” but deputy manager Luisa Davis said yesterday that the hotel is also the ultimate romantic experience. “We cater for a lot of weddings, honeymoons and anniversaries and the El Olivo restaurant is an extremely romantic dining location. We also decorate the rooms with rose petals and always lay on a bottle of cava. “We've also got the mediaeval tower with its spiral staircase and take care of lots of other little touches which surprise our romantic visitors,” she said. “Obviously, our location here is unique, Deya's a romantic village itself but for those who want to get away from it all, want comfort and privacy, we offer just that,” she added. “We offer a homely, cosy atmosphere, especially in the winter, like this weekend, when the log fires will be roaring. We're very pleased about the nomination, It's great for the hotel and also good publicity for Majorca. Conde Nast has also recently named us the seventh best hotel with a spa in Asia, Europe and Russia.”
