8´200 foreigners on the dole

MORE than 8'200 foreigners were collecting unemployment pay in the Balearics at the end of last year, according to figures from the Ministry of Labour.
The figure nationwide was 76'750, which was 24 per cent more than December 2004.
The number of foreign beneficiaries accounts for 5.7 per cent of workers on the dole.
The cost of the payments to foreigners throughout Spain was 61.8 million euros, 27 per cent more than in December 2004.
