PALMA
AFTER months of deliberation, and criticism for the delay, Balearic president Francesc Antich yesterday revealed that central government has finally agreed to invest 83.7 million euros into local projects this year - and that there is a further 17 million euros still to come.

Antich explained that the state funding is going to be pumped into what the Balearic government considers to be 15 priority projects.
The largest share of the state funding, 20 million euros, is going to be invested in phase one of the 350 million euro Palma to the Play de Plama tram project which will also have a link to the airport.

With the 20 million, the government is going to buy the machinery and equipment needed to build the Palma-airport stretch first.
