STAFF REPORTER THE Socialist party in the Balearic Parliament said yesterday that it is “the right” moment for regional government to call on the president of electricity supply company, GESA - Bartomeu Reus - to allay public fears over what have been described as “alarming” increases in both household and company power bills.

Antoni Dieguez, spokesman for the regional socialist group PSIB-PSOE said that he hoped that Reus could attend a parliamentary session within the next two weeks to provide “explanations” over just why bills have soared, sometimes beyond the means of the consumer, in such a short space of time. He said that his party felt it necessary to ask questions about the new tariff rules which GESA had introduced at the end of last year.
