A total of 85 clients at the Hotel Marina in the Port of Soller had to be evacuated yesterday afternoon after a fire started in a store room.
The fire alarm was raised at 3.40pm but after fire officers from Calvia, Soller and Palma had put out the blaze, the “all clear” was given to guests to return to their rooms. The cause of the outbreak is being investigated. It had reportedly started in the rear part of the store in one of the lower ground floors of the hotel. Old and now unused material, such as chairs and sunbeds had been kept there.

Although ambulance crews had attended the scene, there were no incidents of people suffering from smoke inhalation and no reports of any other injuries.

Management confirmed that when the alarm had been raised all guests and staff had been evacuated immediately.
