STAFF REPORTER NATIONAL Police in Palma reported yesterday that they have arrested and imprisoned 43-year-old Pedro P.M. for allegedly abusing his three children. The accused was detained on the orders of the Family Assistance Unit after his alleged crimes were reported in court by the children's mother and a child psychologist who described the harm which could have been suffered by the youngest of the three.


According to sources at National Police headquarters in Palma, the arrest came after instructions were received from the Family Assistance Unit who had been given the all-clear to make the arrest by the court yesterday morning.

The same source said that “sufficient evidence” had been given to police officers to indicate that the accused had not only abused his oldest daughter but had done the same to his other two children aged 5 and 12.
