PALMA
THE mummified body of a man was discovered by a group of youths in the early hours of yesterday morning inside a tunnel underneath the city wall at the Parc del Mar in Palma.

The body was found in a small vaulted room, within the tunnel, about 2 metres long and 1 metre wide. The body, believed to be that of a man about 30 years of age, was dressed in red bermuda shorts and was found lying in a prone position, as if asleep, on top of a blue T-shirt. On the right wrist was a linked bracelet. On the left wrist a black digital watch.

The body was discovered by a group of youths who gained access to the 100 metre-long tunnel through an open metal door in the base of the wall. On discovering the body, they telephoned the police. The Homicide Division of the National Police has begun an investigation into the death of the man.
