BALEARIC president, Francesc Antich has given a response to the Farmers Union, Asaja, who lodged official complaints with the government during a protest held outside government offices in Palma on Friday. The Union claims that the Agricultural ministry is not supporting them adequately at a time of particular need and want one of the directors, allegedly incapable of handling the crisis, to step down. Antich said yesterday that he has given close attention to the farmers' case but that the real problem is not one of losses following a wet and windy winter, but rather one of the structure of the farming industry itself. Antich said that farming is “permanently” in crisis and he will do all he can to rush through aid to the farmers.
