THE regional Ministry for Industry and Energy has set aside 1.8 million euros for a project aimed at subsidising the purchase of new electrical household goods by consumers in the Balearics boosting investment in low energy consumption “Class A” products. Minister Francisca Vives said yesterday in the Balearic Parliament that the original budget had had to be increased by 200'000 euros as there had not been enough funds to cope with demand by consumers. She added that regional dealers in such goods had had a real upturn in business with the funds enabling the purchase of 5'430 fridges, 1'172 freezers, 9'922 washing machines, 3'644 dishwashers and 2'631 ovens.
