PALMA
PALMA Council is to introduce an interpretative service for those with hearing disabilities.
The scheme will initially be introduced at the eight public information units in Palma with a view to extending it later.
Professionals with sign language skills will guarantee a specialised service for those with hearing difficulties that wish to access information about citizens' rights and Palma's public bodies.

Eberhard Grosske, who is responsible for Social Welfare, Participation and Culture in Palma Council said that some months ago the authority had promised to eliminate the barriers that exist in the city to those citizens with a disability.

This scheme, which will cost 70'000 euros, he said, was a pioneering programme in the sense that it would reduce the obstacles people with hearing disabilities face daily.
