A vessel loaded with humanitarian aid amassed by a variety of non-governmental organisations, left Denia (Alicante) yesterday heading for Palma as the first stage of its onward journey to Alhucemas in Morocco. Its mission is to provide material and assistance to the victims of the recent earthquake in North Africa. The boat is scheduled to arrive at its final destination this afternoon. At the request of Moroccan authorities, the “Isla Ibiza” loaned by the Balearia shipping company, is carrying thousands of blankets and warm clothing. Other items include footwear, tents, drinking water and cans of tuna fish. The material has been put together by Moroccan associations, companies, the Parish of San Antonio in Dénia and the Red Cross.
