PALMA
THE Balearic Minister for Health, Vicens Thomas, yesterday appeared before the media to stress that there is no need for public alarm after two young Majorcan residents who had recently returned from Mexico were admitted to Son Dureta Hospital in Palma suffering from the symptoms of possible Swine Fever.

One case has already been confirmed in Spain, in Albacete but, according to Thomas, the results of extensive tests carried out on the young travellers will not be known until today.

Thomas explained that both had gone to Son Dureta Hospital suffering from a high temperature and aching muscles and neck - typical flu-like symptoms.
Both, a male and a female, have been examined and admitted to two separate isolated rooms and tests are also being carried out on the young man's partner.

The female patient lives alone.
