Palma.—Just days after it was revealed that the Playa de Palma is already facing a petty crime wave this season, the Local Police yesterday unveiled its new summer security campaign which this year involves 155 policemen and women, the same as last year.

Between now and the end of October, Local Police units on horseback, bicycles, quads, in squad cars and on foot will be patrolling the Playa de Palma 24 hours a day to guarantee the maximum security for visitors and residents alike in the resort.

The police will be keeping their eye on pick pockets, illegal card sharks, prostitutes, drug dealers and boisterous holiday makers while keeping in close contact with the National Police and the Guardia Civil in the event of a major incident. The public attention office will be open 24/7 during the peak months.
